In 1894 I was transferred to Hongkong from the Gold Coast Colony where I had served as follows:-

Appointed Commissioner of the Volta District 31st May, 1890, and left England on 24th June, being placed on full pay from date of leaving.

My salary during this service was £300 per annum with a house allowance of £30 per annum, and allowance as Deputy Governor of Lagos (from 2nd March, 1884, to 14th August, 1884,) of £250 per mensem.

I shall be 55 years of age on 9th January, 1904, and thus be qualified to retire on pension, and in view of this I have the honour to request that His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government will forward this my application to the Gold Coast.
